Davao Oriental is boastful for its white sand beaches and crystal clear waters of Mati and the famous Aliwagwag Falls situated in Cateel. Little do they know that it also shelters a lake as enchanting as the one from Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

The Municipality of Baganga is situated in the east coast part of Davao Oriental facing the vast waters of Pacific Ocean. A first class municipality that is subdivided into 18 barangays. Baganga, like other municipalities in Davao Oriental takes pride for its clean and enticing beaches but more than the beaches, Baganga teems with vast rivers, flowing lagoons and tidal creeks considered as ecotourism sites of the town. The most favorite place among those is what the locals called Carolina Lake.

Located in Panghugan, Barangay Salingcomot, Carolina Lake is 15 minutes away from town proper and very accessible from the national highway. In fact, motorcycles can go directly to the Lake’s vicinity while four wheeled vehicles can park at the entrance. From the entrance, going down to the Lake it is about 5-minute walk.

Public utility buses coming from Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) in Ecoland travel to the town daily. Once you arrive at Baganga’s Poblacion, you may hire a motorcycle or habal-habal to bring you to Carolina Lake.

From Mati, you can take a van to reach Baganga. Just tell the driver that you will be heading to Carolina Lake so that they can drop you directly as the lake is just along the highway.

for just a 10 Peso entrance fee, you can now wade and indulge yourself in the clear waters of this lake.
